Job Title Labour Market Economist

Purpose of role The purpose of the role is to collect and analyse a range of labour market data in order to prepare reports, plans and strategies related to current and future occupational, skills and qualification needs for 12 industry sectors in the UAE labour market.
Education/education required Master degree in the social sciences, economics or statistics along with extensive research experience and publications. Minimum 10 years’ experience as a labour market economist/analyst. Experience working in education and training systems as well as an awareness of UAE vision and strategic agenda is desirable. Excellent written and verbal communication skills together with a proven ability to work effectively and persuasively with stakeholders.
Principle tasks and responsibilities
  • Analyse, interpret and verify labour market data to produce reports, particularly related to demand for occupations, skills and qualifications for different industry sectors in the UAE.
  • Design and conduct labour market research projects using quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
  • Monitor and forecast labour market conditions using forecasting models, products and tools.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of national and international labour market research, policies, indicators and benchmarks.
  • Design and maintain databases of statistical data relating to labour market trends for each industry sector.
  • Present technical and analytical results in a simply and clear way, orally or in writing to non-expert audiences.
  • Develop and maintain effective partnerships with diverse affective external clients and other key stakeholders.
  • Use project management techniques to meet milestones and key performance indicators, and report performance to senior management as required.
  • Manage self and others to work effectively within a team.
